The inaugural BYT project was defined by a remarkable energy, passion and commitment brought to the Victoria Palace by over 400 young people of incredible commitment and generosity. In my speech to this large, and wonderful, ensemble just before the show began, I chose the word "humbling" to describe just how much work and talent had been poured into the preparation for the show. I think it really was "humbling".  I know that all of us who work on Billy Elliot the Musical have been taught something by the young people taking part; they have enriched us rather than the other way around. And that's the way it should be. Graham Greene once wrote....

"There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in".

I hope we have opened at least "a couple of doors" with the BYT Project.
