Welcome to Billy Youth Theatre!
In October, schools and youth organisations across the country were invited to take up the challenge of staging a production of Billy Elliot in their local school or community. Students and young people participating in the project must be aged between 10-19 on March 19, 2010.
To help get the productions started, representatives of each participating group were invited to attend a workshop weekend in London, hosted by the Billy Elliot creative team, a fantastic opportunity to meet and learn from the talented team that brings Billy Elliot to life on the West End stage night after night.
In January 2010, the dates and locations of the BYT regional showcases will be announced.
On or before March 19, 2010, each participating group must send a DVD with an excerpt or excerpts from their local production for review by the BYT team.
Between April and June 2010, regional showcases will be held at professional theatres across the country, with invited groups each performing and excerpt from their production.
On July 18, 2010, selected groups from around the country will be invited to perform at the Billy Youth Theatre West End Gala at the Victoria Palace Theatre, London.
